This Poem Is Out Of Order

41MUOWARcML._SX331_BO1,204,203,200_

How unnerving to wake before
everyone else in the hotel, to
lie there like a criminal or thief;
bowed beneath the sheets,
the fetal position being one of
extreme innocence: even for the dead.

Demoralizing to realize it is
the radio,
sending static from the fringes.
This is no absent lover, familiar
with your name; it’s a cowboy,
a handmaiden in the modern style.

Mere entertainment, where you can
wash your hands of anything:
especially the pain love also brings.
Get back to the job; old friends
who will reassure you nothing changes:
disco til you drop, the terror remains.

  1. what I see instead of so-called ‘likes’ are the methods used to appear not to be hypocrites, appearing to be genuinely appreciative – what I see are the empty clicks of non-grateful egos placing themselves in a position of apparent understanding while doing nothing actually – oh, sorry, I mean this in the face of no purchases even though the books each are under $2.00, affordable by anyone using a computer
    okay..
