I’m Happy

I’m happy when
no pain intrudes
money’s not an interlude
good, sufficient food
more than what’ll do
when it comes to clothes
shoes, transportation
technology
when I don’t think about
what I must do without
every night in day

and I don’t hear the liars
the ignorant at play
saying money you know
is the root of all evil
or money can’t buy happiness
as they watch the poor
shuffle sideways
when it comes to this or that
which they keep under their hats
no problem when it comes
as long as they know where to shop

As Always, I Am

Oh, you’re so quick
to pick up on the new
culture pimples
black white orange
men women (sorry:
missing the geezers)
referencing
yourself out of existence
as though everybody’s
a blank canvas
looking for a boost up
snakes
and ladders again, but
all what they appear
right
the vocular crimp
the manufactured limp
it’s all bullshit
just get on with the job
your requirement
for perfection
as closely as possible
another lie
to deconstruct
the foreseeable
pats on the back, or badges
safe places
guaranteed by committee
official or not
nothing to do with what
you must
accomplish alone
the inevitable
as always, I am
yours

Allegorical Imperatives

The wounded bears of this belated land,
trailing deceit; and a lingering death:
bore me with their appraisals of excellence.

Accomplices to culture still-born, these
picayune mediocrities forge no sense
of self: damage or display, apologists.

You do well to beware such politics;
domestic confederates, nationalist failures:
the talented and their imitators.

Let them vanish into the forest deep, where
I have set up a meditation and a prayer:
forecasting sudden but true, and rare transformation.

Mr. Spot – 2 –

See Spot sniff Jane’s face, then move down to Jane’s crotch.
See Mr. Spot throw his head up and howl.
Poor Mr. Spot is grieving. He smells Jane.

See Dick come running. Dick is now working and he has brought whiskey.
See Dick pour whiskey on Jane.
Jane had conked out on drugs, tripped, broken off one tit, and been ass-f**ked by Dick earlier that day
before he had to report for duty as a cop.

See Spot start licking Jane’s face for the whiskey.
See Jane wake up to a brand-new day.
See Mr. Spot take a leak on Jane. Hear Dick say, ‘Good boy, Mr. Spot.’

See Dick arrest Jane for lewd behavior and public intoxication.

See Dick watch Spot run away as Dick sings, ‘Jingle Ball, Jingle Ball..

Watch Dick get a promotion. See Jane go to jail.

So much for that fucking going up a hill to fetch a pail of bullshit.

See Dick start singing, ‘We are the World, we are the People‘ and get hit in the head by a boot stolen
from an old lady then thrown by some angry poet.

White Trash Ordinary Day for everyone.

Niagara

What your mind may tell you is
you’re swimming
skimming above the waves, butterfly
back stitching until the sky
not only embraces but saves and defines

above the underworld of silt-filled
overturned disorientation, you’re
okay, breathing
through prehistoric lungs, gills
slapping closed and open again, benign

body one more shipwreck,
flakes appearing out of nowhere
aligning light and shadow: a
Niagara Falls of synapses and neurons
firing with the brakes on into the unknown
