As Always, I Am

Oh, you’re so quick
to pick up on the new
culture pimples
black white orange
men women (sorry:
missing the geezers)
referencing
yourself out of existence
as though everybody’s
a blank canvas
looking for a boost up
snakes
and ladders again, but
all what they appear
right
the vocular crimp
the manufactured limp
it’s all bullshit
just get on with the job
your requirement
for perfection
as closely as possible
another lie
to deconstruct
the foreseeable
pats on the back, or badges
safe places
guaranteed by committee
official or not
nothing to do with what
you must
accomplish alone
the inevitable
as always, I am
yours

Allegorical Imperatives

The wounded bears of this belated land,
trailing deceit; and a lingering death:
bore me with their appraisals of excellence.

Accomplices to culture still-born, these
picayune mediocrities forge no sense
of self: damage or display, apologists.

You do well to beware such politics;
domestic confederates, nationalist failures:
the talented and their imitators.

Let them vanish into the forest deep, where
I have set up a meditation and a prayer:
forecasting sudden but true, and rare transformation.

The F.U. Society Assaults Itself

steel1
Always those who claim to be awake
to the machinations which once claimed
their eyes, specious cretins
simply could not stand the chaotic mess
of their own unholiness finally found
a place each could settle in unafraid
temporarily until the new fashions kick in
describing perspectives sieved out of merde
and disguises for the rich to be bribed
who in former times only would require
the cold hard cash of a world by numbers
now designed by idiots to be so inclusive
everyone’s abandoned the prize
of singularity to assume the podium

Where worship plies its dirty diatribe as
the tools of media raise up
truth as the equivalent of gossip, being
famous equal to significance while minor
deities involved in the exclusive province
of the arts decide each must join
by committee the conversation they had
never started, the followers
of extinction erasing history, denying
who suffered to what degree by opinion, not
informed expansive and learned perspective
in a whirlwind self-made by cowards
each inauthentic each incipiently Stalin
on a merry-go-round ride yelling, I’m not blind

Lines Toward A New Language

Abandon the notion of style
that categories have more to say
that significance is engrained

the predominance of schoolyard
bullies, writing recognizable
the Breck girls’ chorus of vengeance regrets

not at all corrupt supporting
the least
similarity in structure and the stuttering

since all these dogs remain philosophers
desiring true believers, no brains
just blurbs manufactured by paid liars

the bribes publication, the tribe
writers following fashionably
the weave of experienced deceit

echoing, echoing not a sound
familiar flesh has not dropped
down just spread itself around for

the cannibal feast to celebrate
yet soon enough
bones grind like crisp fallen leaves

as each crackles it breaks
dust and ashes again
verisimilitude the same

language returns the liberty
each pretty fire a pleasant heat, which
colorful flames make of the defeat

Camouflage

Roadmaps for what counts don’t exist
but you can manage your minor doomed
to failure attempt with tattoos –
one dimensional permanency as if the real thing,
was not torn off skin and doubt yet
but that’s the trick: look at me, see this or that

Walking the leaf-littered road in Fall, pushing
through the snow drifts detained by dark
in deep February with owl eyes somewhere
beheld: that time this moment sure as all
hell breaks loose, cracks upon the bell where
loneliness permanent as sky’s dandruff

Drifts down like stars afloat the upside,
a complement to melodies still within the throat,
my skin brittle with scents and thyme:
no question will I lift or rise, am I then to be
forgiven what I love or despise, when all is a
camouflage so bright it outshines these clothes
